Playing Guide 1.1
Play testing is going well! I’ve updated the Action rule set to be more clear and clean some mechanics up:
The player always has priority to which of their cards in their spread will match to the Storyteller’s spread. Each card must be used if there are still cards in the Storyteller’s spread, and the goal is to match or beat the cards in their spread. The more cards left in the Storyteller’s spread, the worse the outcome is. If no cards are left in each spread, it’s a normal success. If the player has more cards left over and the Storyteller doesn’t, each extra card is a critical success. 1-2 cards left over from the Storyteller’s spread is a mixed success, a success with some complication or negative implication. 3 or more cards left the Storyteller’s spread is a failure.
I also had to clear up the River as well:
Normally players may not use their character’s own cards in the River.
The River is meant to show cooperation with others, so using your own River cards essentially just extends your own hand. An exception to this rule I can think of is the Choreography trait. It uses any two cards on the River.
Recently I’ve been told that Roll20 can import tarot cards, so I’m looking to start expanding play test groups with that. For those interested in the system, I’m developing a solo mode as well.
